Planning for multiple-generation product lines using dynamic variable state models with data input from similar products

چکیده
We are surrounded by numerous multi-generation product (MGP) lines, ranging from Gillette’s razor products to BMW’s 3series sedans. Due to a rapidly changing and technology-intense market environment, the use of an MGP strategy has become a popular management tool for companies; numerous academic and industrial testaments exist pointing to its success. When using this strategy, a company begins by launching an initial product generation to the market. It then sequentially introduces successive generations over time, each featuring unchanged core functionality but with updated technologies, appearance, or usability. This strategy allows companies to elongate the product lifespan from a single product to a line of products and to best utilize resources and technologies to plan for better products and to increase the chances of long-term market success.

Agent-based Modeling of Dynamic Pricing Scenarios to Optimize Multiple-generation Product Lines with Cannibalization
In today’s market, companies tend to develop long-term multiple-generation product strategies instead of releasing consecutive single products to maintain market competitiveness. Even though this strategy affords market vitality, it also can bring about inter-product-line cannibalization. Cannibalization within a multiple-generation product line is a complex problem, and it has seldom been expl...
متن کاملUsing Markov Chain to Analyze Production Lines Systems with Layout Constraints
There are some problems with estimating the time required for the manufacturing process of products, especially when there is a variable serving time, like control stage. These problems will cause overestimation of process time. Layout constraints, reworking constraints and inflexible product schedule in multi product lines need a precise planning to reduce volume in particular situation of lin...
متن کاملA Fuzzy Multi Objective Programming Model for Power Generation and Transmission Expansion Planning Problem
The increasing consumption of electricity over time forces different countries to establishnew power plants and transmission lines. There are various crisp single-objective mathematicalmodels in the literature for the long-term power generation and transmission expansion planning tohelp the decision makers to make more reasonable decisions. But, in practice, most of the parametersassociated wit...
متن کاملDynamic Multi Period Production Planning Problem with Semi Markovian Variable Cost (TECHNICAL NOTE)
This paper develops a method for solving the single product multi-period production-planning problem, in which the production and the inventory costs of each period arc concave and backlogging is not permitted. It is also assumed that the unit variable cost of the production evolves according to a continuous time Markov process. We prove that this production-planning problem can be Stated as a ...
متن کاملMathematical Models for Microbial Kinetics in Solid-State Fermentation: A Review
Context:In this review, we discuss empirical and stoichiometric models, which have been developed recently in SSF processes and the influence of environmental conditions on the variables of these models. Additionally, new studies on modeling of product formation are also mentioned. <span style="color: windowtext...
